Please don't mistake this blue stretch of open space for an outdoor swimming pool. When I first saw it from a far distance, I made that same mistake. Actually, it's one of the specialties on this campus, for you cannot find a second blue track in Taiwan. Why blue?
You must be wondering. Well, out of pure curiosity, I have asked many people on campus about it. But strangely enough, no one seems to know the answer for sure. The most probable answer goes like this: The year of the construction of this track was also the year when the Olympic Games were held in Athens, Greece. So the school authorities decided to paint it blue as a tribute to the hosting country. I know it sounds far-fetched, but I have no better answer to offer either.
